Award winning writer, Clifford Thurlow, has been commissioned to write a thriller entitled Checkmate. Work started in February on the book. The central plot is based around the Jewel Royale Chess Set. With a series of sub plots and nail biting suspense, the book is set to be a best seller.

The Black King was the star attraction at the official London Fashion Week Launch Party held at the MJU Restaurant in the Millennium Hotel, Sloane Street London. Considerable international, national and regional press coverage resulted following the impact made at this event attended by major fashion journalists.

The completed Black King was presented to the commissioner who was overwhelmed. Weighing in at 165.2 grams of 18 carat yellow gold, the hand made King has a uniquely turned underneath achieved using the ‘guillochet’ method. The magnificent piece is set with 73 rubies, 146 sapphires, 748 diamonds and a secreted pearl. Further refinements to the board were agreed together with various adornments.
